The trend among British consumers to invest in a buy to let property continues to grow, according to recent research.

More and more Britons are becoming landlords as way to boost their finances and the Buy to Let Business group insists that this trend will gather pace over the coming months and years.

Indeed, the organisation suggests that by 2010 there will be almost double to the number of buy to let property owners around the country than is currently the case.

"With pensions not offering their previous returns and the real cost of living accelerating at an alarming rate, property investment continues to grow in popularity as an alternative investment vehicle," said Tanveer Karim, commercial director of Buy to Let Business.

"Despite the tax relief benefits, many people today are exchanging their traditional pension for property."

A recent study by Paragon Mortgages suggested that but to let property owners in the UK have never been more confident about the prospects for their investments.
